The origins of Anker go back some 40 years, with the owners of Anker operating the company that made York Towbars. Following the sale of that business in late 1982 Anker started in January 1983.
Originally we operated from less than 2000 square feet. We have grown progressively and now occupy a purpose built complex of buildings of some 14000 square feet, on the original site.
During this period we have purchased Towbars Ltd (the true original towbar company), the assets of Bumper to Bumper Ltd and recently the designs and rights of York towbars.
Anker is now a substantial player in the UK market. It has become the towbar of choice for both the motor trade and towbar fitting organisations.
Our comprehensive range is continually growing with the introduction of 266 Towbars already this year. We like our range to be straight forward and our philosophy is primarily to make the bars as easy as possible to fit, with as little bumper cutting and removal as possible. All of our bars are typical British Towbars made for the standard bolt on ball.
One continuing theme throughout Anker is the family atmosphere and long standing staff relationships. Working in the country side is a very pleasant environment and helps enormously. See Google maps post code CV9 3ER. We are the property to the left of the road itself, towards the bottom as it first appears. Not as shown. This also shows our proximity to the M42 junction 11.
We can only see continual growth for Anker. Over the years our customers have come to realise that they can purchase towbars of an equal standard to those of the 'big' brand names at a much lower price. In fact in recent times some of the largest brands have suffered in their quality through changes in business and manufacturing practices. As a result of this we anticipate a continuous flow of new business over the next five to seven years from traders and members of the public.
We will therefore be reinvesting into new machinery with a view to expand and develop our manufacturing processes further. We still have more potential room for expansion at our unique site unlike our closest competitors who are heavily restricted on space and storage. With our own electricity substation and room to spare we are looking forward to increasing production and staff in the future.
